The pelican was believed to pierce its own breast with its beak and feed its young of its blood. It became a symbol of Christ sacrificing himself for man.
Lamb of God, is an ancient symbol of Christ and His sacrifice. The cross stands for Christ's victory over sin and death. Seen here lying upon the Book of Seven Seals.
